WILLPOWER PARENT PULSE
TERMS OF USE
Effective Date: September 3, 2026
Last Updated: September 3, 2026
Welcome to Parent Pulse.
Parent Pulse is provided by the WillPower Foundation (“WillPower,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) as an educational awareness and reflection tool designed to help parents and caregivers notice patterns or changes they may be observing in a young person’s behavior, mood, functioning, connection, or well-being and consider possible next steps.
By accessing or using Parent Pulse, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use Parent Pulse.
1. Eligibility
Parent Pulse is intended for use by adults age 18 and older.
By accessing or using Parent Pulse, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.
Parent Pulse is intended for parents, caregivers, and other adults concerned about a young person. It is not intended to be completed directly by children or minors about themselves.
2. Parent Pulse Is an Educational Awareness Tool — Not a Diagnosis
Parent Pulse is an educational awareness and reflection tool. It is not a clinical assessment, medical or mental health diagnosis, suicide risk assessment or screening tool, treatment recommendation, or substitute for professional judgment, evaluation, treatment, or care.
Parent Pulse does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, predict, or determine the presence or absence of any medical, psychiatric, psychological, behavioral, substance-use, or other health condition.
A Parent Pulse result does not determine whether a young person has or does not have a mental health condition, substance use disorder, suicide risk, or other health or behavioral concern.
Results are based solely on the information provided by the user and may change depending on the information provided and the circumstances at the time.
3. Parent Pulse Cannot Determine Whether Someone Is Safe
Parent Pulse cannot determine whether a person is safe or unsafe.
No questionnaire, algorithm, online tool, score, result, or set of responses can account for every factor affecting a person's safety or reliably determine an individual's risk based solely on information provided by another person.
Do not rely on a Parent Pulse result if you are concerned about someone's immediate safety.
A result indicating a lower level of concern should never be interpreted as confirmation that a person is safe or that professional evaluation, support, or intervention is unnecessary.
If a young person talks about suicide, self-harm, wanting to die, disappearing, feeling hopeless or like a burden, or otherwise gives you reason to believe they may be in danger, take the concern seriously regardless of the Parent Pulse result.
4. If You Need Help Now
If you believe someone may be in immediate danger or experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
In the United States, you may also call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
You may contact 988 because you are concerned about yourself or someone else.
Parent Pulse is not an emergency or crisis-response service and is not monitored in real time.
Completing Parent Pulse does not alert WillPower, a clinician, therapist, physician, emergency service, school, parent, caregiver, or other responsible person that someone may need assistance.
WillPower does not monitor individual Parent Pulse responses for indications of risk and does not undertake responsibility to contact, warn, rescue, intervene on behalf of, or provide emergency assistance to any user or person about whom Parent Pulse is completed.
Never wait for, or rely upon, a Parent Pulse result before seeking emergency or professional help when you believe someone may be at risk.
5. Parent Pulse Does Not Provide Professional Advice or Care
Information, results, suggested next steps, educational materials, and resources provided through Parent Pulse are for general educational and informational purposes only.
They do not constitute individualized medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, substance-use, legal, or other professional advice.
Use of Parent Pulse does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, counselor-client, healthcare provider-patient, fiduciary, or other professional relationship between you, the young person you are concerned about, and WillPower or any of its directors, employees, volunteers, advisors, contractors, partners, or service providers.
Questions or concerns about a young person's physical health, mental health, substance use, behavior, or safety should be discussed with an appropriately qualified professional.
6. Your Judgment and Observations Matter
Parent Pulse is based solely on the information you choose to provide.
It cannot observe or communicate with the young person, verify the accuracy or completeness of the information provided, know the person's complete history or circumstances, or account for everything occurring in that person's life.
If your instincts tell you something may be wrong, trust that concern even if Parent Pulse indicates a lower level of concern.
You do not need a particular Parent Pulse result or score to:
- check in with someone;
- ask directly about safety;
- involve another trusted adult;
- contact a healthcare or mental health professional;
- call or text 988; or
- seek emergency assistance.
7. Results Are Not Labels
Parent Pulse results are intended to help guide reflection and possible action — not to label, diagnose, or define another person.
You should not use a Parent Pulse result to state or imply that another person definitively:
- has a mental illness;
- is or is not suicidal;
- has a substance use disorder;
- is safe or unsafe;
- requires a particular treatment; or
- has no reason for concern.
Instead, Parent Pulse information should be used as a starting point for curiosity, connection, conversation, observation, and appropriate support.
8. User Responsibility and Assumption of Risk
You understand and agree that you use Parent Pulse voluntarily and at your own discretion.
You remain responsible for your own decisions and actions concerning yourself or another person, including decisions about whether and when to seek medical, mental health, emergency, crisis, educational, legal, or other professional assistance.
Parent Pulse cannot observe, evaluate, diagnose, communicate with, supervise, or monitor the person you are concerned about.
WillPower does not assume responsibility for decisions made or actions taken or not taken by you, another user, a healthcare professional, a service provider, or any other third party based upon Parent Pulse or information provided through it.
You should never disregard professional advice or delay seeking professional, crisis, or emergency assistance because of information, recommendations, resources, or results provided through Parent Pulse.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you acknowledge and accept the risks inherent in relying upon a general educational tool when making decisions concerning another person's well-being.
9. Permitted Use
You agree to use Parent Pulse only for lawful, personal, educational, or caregiving purposes.
You may not:
- interfere with, disrupt, damage, or compromise Parent Pulse or its technology;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to Parent Pulse or related systems;
- scrape, reproduce, distribute, sell, license, or commercially exploit Parent Pulse or its content without written permission from WillPower;
- reverse engineer or attempt to discover or reproduce Parent Pulse's scoring, logic, algorithms, or underlying technology;
- impersonate another person;
- knowingly submit false information for an unlawful or harmful purpose;
- use Parent Pulse to harass, discriminate against, threaten, punish, surveil, or otherwise harm another person;
- use Parent Pulse results as the sole basis for consequential decisions concerning another person's education, employment, housing, healthcare, insurance, or legal rights; or
- represent a Parent Pulse result as a professional diagnosis, clinical determination, or professional suicide-risk assessment.
10. Intellectual Property
Parent Pulse, including its name, questions, framework, scoring or decision methodology, result categories, written content, graphics, design elements, educational materials, resources, and related intellectual property, is owned by or licensed to the WillPower Foundation except where otherwise indicated.
All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
Use of Parent Pulse does not transfer any ownership or intellectual property rights to you.
You may use your own Parent Pulse results and related resources for personal or caregiving purposes.
11. Third-Party Resources and Services
Parent Pulse may provide information about or links to crisis services, healthcare providers, mental health professionals, educational organizations, community organizations, treatment resources, websites, applications, or other third-party services.
WillPower does not control these third parties and does not guarantee or assume responsibility for their availability, quality, accuracy, appropriateness, effectiveness, actions, omissions, privacy practices, services, advice, or outcomes.
The inclusion of a resource or link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee by WillPower.
You are responsible for determining whether a particular provider, service, resource, or course of action is appropriate for your circumstances.
12. No Guarantee of Outcomes
WillPower works to make Parent Pulse thoughtful, useful, responsible, and informed by relevant educational and professional guidance. However, human behavior, mental health, substance use, suicide risk, and individual circumstances are complex and cannot be reliably assessed or predicted by an online awareness tool.
WillPower does not represent, warrant, or guarantee that Parent Pulse will:
- identify every concerning situation;
- identify, assess, or predict suicide or self-harm risk;
- accurately reflect a young person's mental, emotional, behavioral, or physical condition;
- detect substance use or a substance use disorder;
- prevent suicide, attempted suicide, self-harm, injury, substance-related harm, hospitalization, or any other adverse event;
- recommend the appropriate action for every person or circumstance;
- ensure that a user seeks or receives appropriate assistance;
- ensure the availability or effectiveness of professional or crisis services; or
- produce any particular result or outcome.
A Parent Pulse result should never be interpreted as an assurance that someone is safe or that professional evaluation or intervention is unnecessary.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PARENT PULSE AND ALL INFORMATION, RESULTS, SUGGESTED NEXT STEPS, RESOURCES, LINKS, CONTENT, AND SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH OR IN CONNECTION WITH PARENT PULSE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WillPower disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, suitability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and availability.
WillPower does not warrant that Parent Pulse will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or appropriate for every person, family, or circumstance.
WillPower does not warrant that use of Parent Pulse or following any information or suggested next step will prevent harm or result in a particular outcome.
Some jurisdictions may not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where such exclusions are prohibited, these limitations will apply to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE WILLPOWER FOUNDATION AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, ADVISORS, CONSULTANTS, CONTRACTORS, DEVELOPERS, LICENSORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, PARTNERS, AFFILIATES, AND AGENTS (COLLECTIVELY, THE “WILLPOWER PARTIES”) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, LOSS, CLAIM, DAMAGE, COST, OR EXPENSE ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR ACCESS TO, USE OF, INABILITY TO USE, OR RELIANCE UPON PARENT PULSE OR ANY INFORMATION, RESULT, RECOMMENDATION, RESOURCE, REFERRAL, LINK, OR SUGGESTED NEXT STEP PROVIDED THROUGH PARENT PULSE.
Without limiting the foregoing, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the WillPower Parties shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any injury, illness, emotional distress, self-harm, suicide or attempted suicide, substance-related harm, hospitalization, loss, or other adverse event or outcome allegedly arising out of or relating to:
- use of or reliance upon Parent Pulse;
- an inaccurate, incomplete, misunderstood, or unexpected Parent Pulse result;
- failure of Parent Pulse to identify, predict, indicate, or communicate a particular concern or level of risk;
- actions taken or not taken by a user or third party in response to Parent Pulse;
- delay in obtaining medical, mental health, crisis, emergency, or other professional assistance;
- information, resources, referrals, links, providers, or third-party services identified through Parent Pulse;
- acts or omissions of healthcare providers, crisis services, emergency services, schools, treatment providers, or other third parties;
- interruption, error, technical malfunction, delay, data loss, or unavailability of Parent Pulse; or
- unauthorized access to or use of information transmitted through Parent Pulse,
except to the extent that such liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
You acknowledge that Parent Pulse is an educational awareness tool and that accessing or using Parent Pulse does not, by itself, create or impose upon WillPower a professional, clinical, therapeutic, medical, fiduciary, supervisory, custodial, or other duty of care to you or to any person about whom Parent Pulse is completed.
Some states do not permit certain exclusions or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, the liability of the WillPower Parties shall be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
15. Privacy
Your use of Parent Pulse is also governed by the Parent Pulse Privacy Policy, which explains how information associated with Parent Pulse is handled.
Please review the Privacy Policy before using Parent Pulse.
16. Availability and Modification of Parent Pulse
WillPower may modify, update, suspend, restrict, or discontinue Parent Pulse or any feature, content, scoring methodology, result category, recommendation, or resource at any time.
WillPower does not guarantee that Parent Pulse or any particular feature or resource will always be available.
17. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to Parent Pulse or these Terms will be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to Parent Pulse or these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the applicable state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or protections that cannot lawfully be waived under applicable law.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law or, if necessary, severed from these Terms.
The remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
19. No Waiver
WillPower's failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or of WillPower's right to enforce it in the future.
20. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Parent Pulse Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly presented in connection with Parent Pulse, constitute the agreement between you and WillPower regarding your use of Parent Pulse.
21. Changes to These Terms
WillPower may update these Terms as Parent Pulse evolves, our technology changes, or applicable laws or practices change.
The current version will be posted with an updated “Last Updated” date.
Your continued use of Parent Pulse after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
